Invest International opened its doors in October 2021, in The Hague. We are a state-owned company set-up by the Dutch government. A private company funded with public capital. The position

The Financial Controller (FC) will further strengthen and improve the financial control function within the organization. Besides that, he or she will manage the financial control activities and ensure that all accounting requirements for the 7 administrations will be applied.

The FC is part of the team of 10 persons in the finance, control and accounting department, and jointly cooperates to attain the roadmap and timelines set. Challenging opportunities are within further build-up and maintenance under IFRS (equity valuations, monitoring the IFRS9 loan portfolio) and controlling and monitoring the interface between portfolio management systems and the financial system. Also, the yearly financial audit process is part of the job, next to monitoring the financials, overviewing the costs to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and robust cost allocation between the holding and the 5 subsidiaries.

The Financial Controller works with the colleagues in finance but has also contacts outside the financial area to capture all necessary information to obtain objective and complete figures. The reporting line is into the Director Finance Control, who reports into the CFRO.

Responsibilities

  • Strengthen the control function within Invest International.

  • Maintain and improve the IFRS compliancy.

  • Execute and operationally manage the intercompany cost allocation, recharges, and project accounting.

  • Support the monthly and or quarterly reporting.

  • Drive, manage and coordinate the Audit process.

  • Prepare the consolidation of the financial statements, using Alteryx, AI, or other tooling; promote technical innovations to improve reporting.

  • Monitor the applied cost allocation methods between the holding and the subsidiaries.

  • Work positively and pro-actively together with the other Controllers.

  • Safeguard Invest International values in the core of its activities.

Requirements

  • Strong affinity with the mission and vision of Invest International.

  • Master’s degree in relevant field.

  • A solid background in financial control, preferably in a portfolio management or installed base related environment. Experience as an auditor, previously working for an audit firm, is a strong plus.

  • Knowledge of IFRS; knowledge about subsidies, grants and governmental financing is a pro.

  • Ability to build-up the financial control function with a tactical view and hands-on approach.

  • Strong capabilities in applying business initiatives into accounting requirements.

  • Ability to understand new environments swiftly and tailor the financial processes. 

  • Positive mindset and high energy level.

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.

  • Political, diplomatic, and administrative sensitivity taking into account different needs, interests, and cultural backgrounds.

  • Analytical, stakeholder focus, more extravert than introvert, looking for cooperation, environmental awareness, eye for detail, focus on continuous improvement.

  • Excellent communication skills in English and/or Dutch, both written and verbal.

Offer

  • 12 months contract for 36 or 40 hours per week with potential to extend afterwards.

  • Salary scale (based on Hays system) 17.  This indicates a salary level between 85k and 110k per year based on 40 hours and dependent on RSP (relative salary position). Also, we offer a premium free pension plan, NS business card 1st class, laptop and phone.
